Module 1 - Pre-session activities

The purpose of this module is to get you to start thinking about the competencies required for online teaching and to share your online experiences with the group.

There are three activities in this module which you are required to work through.

  • The first activity asks you to match the three competencies required in online teaching (Administrative, Technical and Pedagogical) to a list of statements.
  • The second is an ungraded survey where you are asked to rate your confidence in each competency.
  • The final activity in this module is a discussion post where you are asked to share your online learning experiences.

Being a successful instructor in an online or distributed learning environment requires different competencies than in a traditional classroom environment. As an instructor you will need to develop and use skills and abilities related to the technical, administrative and pedagogical roles an instructor plays. In the activity below match each statement with the competency.
