The emphasis is on project-based, hands-on practice to develop skills and story telling by making a series of short films. If you have a particular skill that you want to explore we can develop a personal project around that interest. Each module consists of a short video, reading, or demo that explains the concepts needed to successfully complete the projects. In order to keep everyone as healthy as possible the following protocols must be followed: ## Classroom 1. Enter the classroom via the lower doorway, leave the classroom via the upper doorway. 2. Wash hands/use sanitizer when entering the class. 3. Physical distancing is not possible in the classroom, students may wear masks while in class. Masks are required if you leave your seat. 4. Disinfectant wipes are available to clean keyboards, computer mice and other equipment. Workstations must be cleaned before use for afternoon classes. 5. Use the same workstation for every class in case contact tracing is required. 6. Exhibit responsible, courteous, cooperative classroom behaviour at all times towards all members of the classroom. Take responsibility for your learning. ## Equipment 1. We do have a limited number of drawing tablets available for student use. Note that you are not required to use a drawing tablet and that most of the work in this course can be completed without a tablet. Because of Covid-19, tablets can not be shared between students. ## Software 1. Computers in 003 have Adobe Creative Cloud installed which includes Adobe Animate, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Character Animator. Computers also have Audacity for sound work and Blender for 3D modeling ## Big Ideas - Design cycle is an ongoing reflective process - Personal design choices require self-exploration, collaboration, evaluation and refinement of skills - Design and content can influence the lives of others ## Competencies - Applied design: understanding context, defining points of view, ideating, prototyping, testing, making, and sharing - Applied skills: identify the skills needed for specific projects - Applied technology: choose the appropriate tools and technologies to use for tasks
